Julian House is a charity dedicated to making a difference to the lives of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged people in society. We run several projects and every year we help thousands of people out of homelessness, into employment, away from domestic abuse, and more.

The Role:

To actively promote and recruit participants for the “Build a Bike” training and work experience opportunities offered by Bath Bike Workshop, supporting socially excluded individuals to access and engage with these programs. The role involves actively recruiting, and providing motivation and guidance to participants, coordinating training courses, monitoring outcomes, and helping clients progress toward volunteering and employment. 

Responsibilities include: 

  • Proactively promote the “Build a Bike” project to internal teams within Julian House and external agencies by attending meetings, networking, and building partnerships.
  • Coordinate and allocate places for Build-a-Bike training courses and work experience placements, working closely with workshop Manager and staff to ensure participants are supported and motivated.
  • Provide guidance on CV building, job searching, and other employment-related advice.
  • Facilitate opportunities for clients to contribute to service improvement and participate in consultation events within Julian House and the broader community. 

Qualifications / Requirements: 

  • Experience of partnership working and liaising with relevant agencies e.g. colleges, job center plus, DWP, employers, social work teams
  • Experience of or working with socially excluded people with a history of homelessness, offending, mental health or substance misuse needs;
  • Motivated to work with people who have been marginalized in society, supporting the move from social exclusion by maximizing potential and increasing employability.
