Our client Medway council is looking for a Senior Social Worker to join their Children and Adults Safeguarding team.
Accountabilities
- Be a Designated Senior Officer for safeguarding concerns and S.42 Enquiries, ensuring responses to safeguarding are robust, in line with policy and guidance and legislation to ensure the safety and wellbeing of individuals subject to safeguarding concerns.
- Undertake and support the undertaking of complex mental capacity assessments, S.42 enquiries and other assessments as required.
- Supervise and line manage a range of both qualified and unqualified staff and provide quality formal and informal supervision as required.
- Contribute to the delivery of a highly effective Adult Social Care Safeguarding Team in an efficient manner. Responsible for supporting adults who are subject to safeguarding concerns and/or S.42 enquiries to enable them to achieve fulfilled, safe and independent lives.
- Provide oversight, professional advice and guidance to the team whilst maintaining a complex case load and demonstrating expert and effective practice in complex situations managing higher levels of risk in a way that ensures the safeguarding and welfare of individuals
- As a Designated Senior Officer, you are responsible for screening safeguarding referrals, making decisions as to how cases should progress, authorising safeguarding plans and protective measures and chairing safeguarding meetings to ensure the quality of practice is of the highest standard and that making safeguarding personal is at the centre of all safeguarding work.
- Additionally, you will apply a least restrictive approach to support individuals in making informed decisions and promote positive risk-taking.
