Marketing and Communications Officer

We're looking for an enthusiastic and organised Marketing and Communications Officer to join our friendly team.

This is a varied and hands-on role that would suit someone who enjoys working with people, is confident communicating with different audiences, and is keen to develop their skills across marketing, communications and events.

This wide-ranging role could include production of social media content or updating our website, helping prepare for community events or gathering stories about the impact of our work. You'll work closely with colleagues across the organisation to help deliver engaging communications, support events and community activities, and ensure our members, supporters and stakeholders stay informed and connected.

As part of the role, you'll support the creation of newsletters, website content, blogs, press releases and other communications materials, as well as drafting engaging content for digital and print channels. You'll help gather stories, case studies and updates from colleagues, members and community partners, and help ensure our communications are accurate, engaging and aligned with BWCE's values and brand.

You'll also help maintain BWCE's social media channels, create simple graphics and promotional materials using Canva and existing templates, and support website updates and content management, with software training as required. You'll assist with monitoring engagement across our communications channels and gathering basic performance information.

Events and community engagement are also an important part of the role. You'll support the planning and delivery of events, workshops and community engagement activities, helping with registrations, event materials, presentations, signage and promotional resources. You'll also help coordinate practical arrangements with venues, suppliers and colleagues and gather feedback from participants.

Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to support events, although attendance at all events is not expected.

We're looking for someone who is enthusiastic, positive and keen to learn, with strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with a wide range of people. You'll be organised, have good attention to detail and be comfortable using digital tools and learning new systems.

Experience creating content for social media, websites or newsletters, using Canva or similar design software, or supporting events and community activities would be helpful. Familiarity with WordPress, social media scheduling tools, CRM systems or event platforms such as Eventbrite would also be useful, but we welcome applications from people with a wide range of backgrounds and experiences.
